Standard/Master Certificate Renewal

STANDARD/MASTER CERTIFICATE RENEWAL FOR PUBLIC TEACHERS
The Educator Certification System (ECS) replaced CERTS and OTIS on September 5, 2006.
ECS is based on a Wizard which takes you step-by-step the the process you need to complete and register your certificate.

ISBE Website on Standard or Master Renewal
Using ECS
1. On the web go to http://www.isbe.net/ecs
2. Click on " Click here to access ECS"
3. To Log In
- Use your OTIS or CeRTS login and password or if that does not work "Create New Account" button.
- If you cannot get in to the system, please contact ISBE or the ROE to get in to your account.
If this is your FIRST TIME using ECS:
1. You will need to choose a "secret question" and give an answer for that
2. You will need to review and update your Personal Information and your Educator Profile
To RENEW your Certificate:
1. Click on Professional Development
- Record you Professional Development Activities
Note: ECS is programmed to accept exactly the number of CPDU's available under the law
Note: Many activities are programmed to accept per semester
Note: ECS will only accept whole CPDU's. Round down if necessary.
2. Submit Statement of Assurance (SOA)
3. Logoff system and wait until your LPDC (if you have one) and the ROE and ISBE approve your SOA.
Note: You can check by logging in and it will active Register/Renew when approved.
4. Log in to system daily to check on status
5. When approved, click on Register/Renew.
