NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY FOR WAIVER OF STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION RULES AND/OR SCHOOL CODE MANDATES FOR REGIONAL OFFICE OF EDUCATION #31 KANE COUNTY, STATE OF ILLINOIS.
A PUBLIC HEARING to receive comments regarding a proposed application for waiver of State Board rules and/or School Code Mandate 105 ILCS 5/18-8.05 (F)(2)(d)(2) for the Regional Office of Education #31, Kane County, State of Illinois, will be held at the Regional Office of Education #31, 28 N. 1st Street, Geneva, IL, 60134, on August 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. Any person desiring to present testimony to the ROE may do so at that time. A brief description of the proposed waiver follows. The duration of the waiver is for a period of five years beginning with the start of the 2016-2017 school year. The Kane County Regional Office of Education is requesting two full day school improvement day waivers for the Alternative Learning Opportunity Programs and Regional Safe School Programs that are coordinated through the ROE.
PURPOSE: The purpose would be to allow our educators to work collaboratively with district educators on curriculum, obtain necessary professional development, and to discuss the individual performance of students in order to improve academically. The ALOP educators will use the time to develop individual interventions for their students based on their diverse needs.
